ADC Slams Tinubu, Blames Administration for Insecurity and Trump’s Watchlist Tag

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has strongly criticized President Bola Tinubu, holding his administration accountable for what it describes as escalating insecurity in Nigeria and the subsequent designation of the country as a “Country of Particular Concern (CPC)” by United States President Donald Trump.
Dependable NG reports that in a statement issued on Monday by its National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, the ADC asserted that President Trump’s designation tragically “highlights the urgency and scale of Nigeria’s security collapse.” The opposition party noted that the US President’s action underscores the global expectation that national governments must prioritize and protect the lives of citizens within their borders—a mandate in which the Tinubu administration has allegedly failed most.
The party’s statement emphasized that the core issue is the thousands of human lives lost to insecurity across Nigeria, regardless of their tribe, religion, or region. While the ADC rejected the characterization of Nigeria as religiously intolerant, maintaining that the claim “does not reflect our national reality,” it insisted that the security failure demands immediate and sincere action from the government. The party referenced reports indicating that thousands of lives have been lost since the administration took office, with entire communities sacked and terror groups reportedly regaining strength.
Beyond the security failures, the ADC also decried Nigeria’s weakened international standing, linking the decline to what it termed the administration’s “diplomatic negligence.” The party pointedly questioned the government’s failure to appoint ambassadors in key countries more than two years into its term, asking, “How can a government that has been boasting of unprecedented revenue success continue to give lack of funds as an excuse for not appointing ambassadors?” The ADC concluded that under the current leadership, Nigeria has unfortunately declined both as a continental and a regional leader, citing the fracturing of ECOWAS as evidence of lost regional influence.
Would you like me to find the Nigerian government’s official response to the ADC’s allegations of security collapse and diplomatic negligence?
