Accord Party Announces New Osun Caretaker Chairman Ahead of 2026 Election

Ahead of the crucial governorship election in Osun State, the National Executive Council (NEC) of the Accord party has approved the constitution of a Caretaker Committee for the Osun State Chapter, naming Pastor Victor Akande as its new chairman, following the expiration of the tenure of the previous leadership.

Dependable NG reports that the NEC took several key decisions to prepare for the upcoming polls, including approving the Electoral Guidelines for the forthcoming Osun State gubernatorial primaries and constituting the dedicated Electoral Committee for the process. The leadership expressed strong confidence that the party is poised to win the 2026 election.

In a move to strengthen its base, the NEC also approved a general waiver for numerous Nigerians who have recently joined the party and wish to contest elections on its platform.

Furthermore, the party approved the immediate constitution of Women and Youth Directorates across all levels of the party structure—National, Zonal, State, Local Government, Ward, and Polling Unit—to facilitate widespread membership drive and grassroots mobilization of citizens across the country.

In the spirit of oneness and progress as it prepares for the gubernatorial election, Accord also lifted the suspension of some members in Osun State. Finally, the NEC passed a unanimous vote of confidence in the leadership of Barrister Maxwell Mgbudem as the National Chairman.
