Tragedy in Borno: Explosion Kills Four Children, Injures One in Bama
A devastating explosion has tragically claimed the lives of four children and severely injured one other at the Banki motor park in the Wajari ward of Bama Local Government Area of Borno State.
Dependable NG reports that the incident involved an explosive device and was confirmed in a statement issued on Friday by the Borno State Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Nahum Kenneth Daso.
According to the police statement, the group of children had entered a makeshift shelter located behind the motor park. There, they were playing with the explosive device, which is suspected to have been picked up from nearby bushes, unaware that it was a live ordnance.
The victims who lost their lives were identified as Awana Mustapha (15), Malum Modu (14), Lawan Ibrahim (12), and Modu Abacha (12).
The lone survivor, Mustapha Tijja (12), sustained injuries and is currently receiving urgent medical treatment at the FHI 360 Hospital in Banki. The police have confirmed that normalcy has been successfully restored in the area, and a detailed investigation into the tragic incident is currently ongoing.
