Army, NAF Crush Terrorists in Chibok
Nigerian troops of the 28 Task Force Brigade, operating under Sector 4 of Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK), successfully repelled a large-scale attack by over 300 ISWAP and Boko Haram terrorists in Chibok, Borno State, early on Saturday. The decisive defense led to immediate air interdiction that eliminated scores of the fleeing fighters.
Security expert Zagazola Makama reported on his X handle that the massive terrorist group launched a coordinated, multi-front assault on the community, attempting to breach defensive locations and completely overwhelm the deployed soldiers.
The soldiers immediately countered the pre-dawn assault with superior firepower and well-coordinated maneuvers. This swift response led to an intense, two-hour gun battle that eventually forced the overwhelming number of attackers to break contact and retreat toward the Timbuktu Triangle, a known insurgents’ sanctuary.
A reliable intelligence source quoted by Makama confirmed the success of the ground operation, stating: “The troops were alert and professionally contained the attack. There was no casualty on our side, and no equipment was affected.”
Following the terrorists’ chaotic withdrawal, the ground forces swiftly requested air support to pursue the escaping column. The request prompted the immediate deployment of Nigerian Air Force (NAF) combat aircraft to the identified withdrawal route.
The NAF jet delivered “precise and devastating strikes” along the terrorists’ escape path. The objective was to obliterate a significant number of the fighters and disrupt their attempts to regroup and reorganize their movement.
According to sources, the NAF combat aircraft conducted four major airstrikes along the insurgents’ retreat route toward the Timbuktu Triangle. These precision strikes were guided by real-time intelligence supplied by the ground troops of the 28 Task Force Brigade, ensuring maximum impact.
