Sophia Momodu Claims No Child Support from Davido
Sophia Momodu, the mother of superstar singer Davido’s first daughter, Imade Adeleke, has publicly stated that she has not received any formal child support payments from the singer. Her revelation came as she addressed what she called deliberate attempts to spread false narratives about her daughter’s well-being on social media.
Speaking in a detailed post on her Instagram story on Wednesday, Sophia disclosed that she has personally been the sole financial backbone for Imade’s upbringing for the past five years. She emphasized her commitment to ensuring her daughter’s happiness.
“I have not received any child support from Davido, but our child knows no lack. She’s growing in a safe and loving environment and she is very happy,” Sophia wrote, asserting that she has covered all expenses except for school fees, which have been covered by the child’s paternal grandparent for the last three years.
In a significant move to remove any financial entanglement, Sophia also revealed that she has recently waived all outstanding child support payments and relinquished any future claims. This decision effectively makes her fully responsible for their child’s financial needs, a development she described as “welcomed by both parties.”
She stressed that her daughter maintains a healthy, loving relationship with both parents, adding that she has never denied Davido access to Imade. Sophia however, urged the public to stop dragging her innocent child into fabricated online stories.
Her public address came following recent criticism leveled against her online. Critics had accused her of allegedly preventing Imade from attending Davido’s 33rd birthday celebration, which was held in Atlanta a few days prior.
