Seven Kidnapped in FCT Community
A wave of fear has swept through the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) following the abduction of a sixteen-year-old boy and six young girls from the Gidan-Bijimi settlement in the Kawu ward of the Bwari Area Council.
The affected community, Gidan-Bijimi, is situated near the Kaduna State border, sharing a boundary with Marke village, according to Daily Trust.
Suleiman Shuaibu, a resident of Kawu, confirmed the terrifying incident via telephone on Thursday morning, providing details of the late-night raid.
He reported that the heavily armed bandits, carrying AK-47 rifles, invaded two separate houses in the community around 9:47 p.m. The attackers fired their weapons sporadically, successfully seizing six young girls and the sixteen-year-old boy.
The sudden and violent attack instantly plunged the community into chaos and fear, the resident noted.
Shuaibu added that local vigilantes made an attempt to confront the invaders. However, they were quickly overwhelmed and forced to retreat due to the bandits’ superior firepower.
He further revealed that the girls abducted are aged between seventeen and twenty-three years old. His own family was directly impacted by the abduction.
“It was around 9:53 pm when a call came from Gidan-Bijimi community that some bandits invaded the village and abducted six young girls, unfortunately my cousin sister happened to be among the victims,” he recounted.
The resident confirmed that some villagers were forced to flee their homes following the attack. As of the time of the report, no contact had been established with the abductors, leaving the families in agonizing suspense.
