Don Jazzy Clarifies UK Police Car Incident
Nigerian music executive and renowned producer Don Jazzy has moved swiftly to correct the record regarding a police incident involving his car in the United Kingdom during the nascent phase of his career. The clarification comes after his former associate, Bankulli, shared a narrative that suggested the producer had actively evaded the law.
Bankulli had recently made the dramatic revelation at a public event, claiming that following a car accident in London, Don Jazzy panicked. According to Bankulli, the musician removed the vehicle’s plate number and fled the scene upon the arrival of the police.
Bankulli offered context for the alleged evasion, noting that the incident occurred when Don Jazzy was still struggling to make ends meet in the UK. “Don Jazzy abandoned the car,” Bankulli claimed, suggesting the high cost of towing and retrieving the damaged vehicle was the primary motivation for the flight.
He recounted the story, saying, “He was coming from a show and he fell asleep while driving and crashed his car. He left the car, removed the plate number and ran away.” Bankulli contrasted the earlier struggle with the producer’s current prosperity, adding, “But look at Jazzy now, he has fleets of cars.”
Bankulli’s public revelation immediately sparked concern among Don Jazzy’s followers. One worried X user criticized Bankulli’s “reckless talk,” expressing fear that the decades-old case might be reopened if Don Jazzy were to travel to London now.
The user wrote: “With this reckless talk from Bankulli, I really hope Don Jazzy isn’t planning a trip to London. They can reopen a 20- year old case!”
In a direct response on X, Don Jazzy urged his fan base not to panic, emphasizing that Bankulli’s memory of the exact sequence of events was flawed. The music executive firmly denied the claim that he had fled or evaded the police.
He explained that he fully cooperated with law enforcement after the accident. “Lol no panic. It’s been so long, so he doesn’t remember the story exactly,” Don Jazzy wrote, gently correcting his former associate’s account.
Don Jazzy confirmed that he “actually waited for the police.” Upon their arrival, the officers administered a breathalyser test to determine if alcohol was a factor in the crash.
He confirmed he was not intoxicated, but his car was nonetheless impounded by the authorities due to the accident. The crucial part of his clarification addressed why the vehicle was ultimately left with the police.
Don Jazzy revealed that the financial penalty required to collect the impounded vehicle back was exorbitant, exceeding the car’s actual worth. “The fine to collect the car back was more than the cheap car, so I left it with them lol,” he concluded, clarifying that the abandonment was a pragmatic economic decision, not an act of legal evasion.
