Yobe Shuts Boarding Schools for Safety

The Yobe State Government has proactively announced the temporary closure of all boarding secondary schools, urging the public to remain calm amidst the disruption.

This drastic measure is being taken as a precautionary step, directly prompted by “emerging security concerns” reported within the state’s security apparatus.The appeal for calm was delivered in a statement signed and issued on Sunday in Damaturu by General Dahiru Abdulsalam (retd), the Special Adviser on Security Matters to Governor Mai Mala Buni.General Abdulsalam moved quickly to reassure both concerned parents and the general populace that the precautionary closure should not be a cause for panic.

He emphasized that the closure is temporary, confirming that the schools will be reopened to students and staff as soon as the security situation is deemed to have sufficiently improved.

He further defended the decision, citing a proactive security principle: “Preventive action is better than reactive measures.” This justification positions the closures as a necessary defense against potential threats.
