Zlatan Ibile Prioritizes Stability, Shuns Artist Investment Risk
Popular Nigerian rapper Zlatan Ibile has offered a candid explanation for his reluctance to financially back up-and-coming musical talents, stating that his primary focus is on financial stability and risk aversion. Speaking frankly on the Adesope Live show, the rapper categorized investing in emerging artistes as a significant gamble, noting that he is highly unsure whether such investments would ultimately yield a profitable return.
Zlatan made it clear that his presence in the music industry is strictly business-driven, motivated by the pursuit of financial security rather than philanthropic backing of new talent. He emphasized that every decision he makes is filtered through the lens of maximizing stability.
“I will rather go buy a house rather than put money on these artistes that I’m not sure will be successful or not,” he declared, firmly setting his investment priorities. He elaborated on his motivation, stating: “The reason I am making music is for financial stability. My goal is to be able to be responsible and financially stable.” The rapper shared a glimpse into his past struggles, adding, “In the beginning of my career, I wasn’t balanced. I suffered from pressure and anxieties.” This personal history appears to be the driving force behind his current, calculated financial strategy.
However, Zlatan was quick to differentiate between financial investment and creative collaboration. While he will not invest capital into new artistes’ careers, he confirmed he remains open and willing to collaborate with them. He stressed that he was afforded similar assistance when he was an emerging talent himself, indicating his commitment to providing creative support and mentorship without assuming the heavy financial risks associated with artist development. His stance suggests a strategic choice to offer social capital rather than financial sponsorship.
