VeryDarkMan Apologizes for In-Flight Brawl, Calls Conduct ‘Irresponsible’

Social media sensation Martins Otse, widely recognized as VeryDarkMan, has issued a public and contrite apology for his disruptive physical altercation with comedian Freedom Atsepoyi, also known as Mr Jollof, aboard a United Nigeria Airlines flight. The highly publicized clash not only created chaos on the plane but also caused significant delays for passengers traveling from Asaba to Lagos.

The altercation, which reportedly turned physical, was captured on video and quickly went viral, showing passengers desperately attempting to separate the two high-profile figures. The incident immediately drew widespread criticism regarding their public conduct and the disregard for fellow travelers.

In an apology video posted to his Instagram account on Tuesday, VeryDarkMan took full responsibility for the disruption, acknowledging that the incident was entirely unnecessary and admitting to acting “irresponsibly.”

“I would really like to apologize for what happened yesterday on the United Nigerian Airlines,” he stated, expressing profound regret. “What happened yesterday was not supposed to happen, and I will take full responsibility for it.”

He specifically highlighted the grave consequences of their actions on other passengers. “A lot of people on that flight had important things to do, but because of that little irresponsibility from my end, their flight was delayed,” he lamented. He acknowledged the potential severity of the disruption, stating, “Some people might have had medical emergencies, and some had business contracts to sign. I don’t know what that little delay would have cost them, and I really want to apologize.”

Reflecting on the viral video and the public’s reaction, the social media personality stated that despite some seeing the clash as mere “cruise on social media,” he personally felt deep dissatisfaction with his behavior. “Looking back at what happened yesterday, I really didn’t like that part. Even though some people saw everything as a cruise on social media, I acted irresponsibly,” he confessed. He concluded his apology by offering a firm assurance to Nigerians that such disruptive and embarrassing behavior would “not occur in public spaces again,” pledging to maintain a higher standard of conduct moving forward.
