Fenerbahce Eyes January Swoop for Wolves Striker Arokodare
Turkish Super Lig giants Fenerbahce are reportedly preparing a move to secure the services of Nigerian international striker Tolu Arokodare from Wolverhampton Wanderers when the January transfer window opens. This potential move comes as the 24-year-old forward has struggled to establish himself in the Premier League since his recent arrival in England.
Arokodare only joined Wolves from Belgian Pro League side KRC Genk last summer, making his transition to the English top flight a matter of just a few months. Despite the high hopes accompanying his transfer, the striker has found it challenging to hit the ground running, particularly in league competition.
So far this season, the Nigeria international has made a total of seven league appearances for Wolves. However, the majority of these outings have been off the bench, as the forward has largely been forced to play a secondary role to first-choice striker Jorgen Strand Larsen. The lack of consistent minutes has naturally hampered his ability to register a significant goal tally in the Premier League.
Yet, Arokodare has demonstrated his scoring capability in cup competitions, having managed to net twice in two appearances in the Carabao Cup, providing glimpses of the potential that convinced Wolves to sign him. This proven ability to find the back of the net, even with limited opportunities, appears to have caught the attention of the Turkish giants.
According to reports from Futbol Arena, as cited by Sabah Spor, Arokodare could be on the move again when the transfer market reopens in the new year. Fenerbahce, known for their aggressive transfer activity and their track record of signing African and Premier League players, would view the Nigerian forward as a valuable addition to bolster their attacking options for the second half of the Super Lig season. A potential move to the Turkish league could offer Arokodare the regular first-team football he needs to reignite his form and secure his place within the Nigerian national team setup, providing a necessary escape route from the bench in the Premier League.
