The postponement of the highly anticipated Matchday 13 clash between Remo Stars and regional rivals Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) has been welcomed by the Sky Blue Stars’ camp, with assistant coach Sulaiman Folarin viewing the break as a crucial opportunity for recovery and improved preparation.

The fixture, which was originally slated for Sunday, was indefinitely postponed by the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) authorities, granting Remo Stars an unexpected period of rest. This rest is deemed vital for a team that has struggled to find consistency this season, currently occupying the precarious 16th position on the league table.

Remo Stars are coming off a disappointing 1-0 home defeat to Enugu Rangers on Thursday, a result that further fueled concerns over their current form. Folarin directly attributed the team’s recent dip and below-par performance against Rangers to player exhaustion.

“The defeat to Rangers was due to fatigue, the players didn’t play to expectations but they tried,” Folarin conceded in a statement to the club’s media. The assistant coach believes that the congested schedule has taken a toll on the players, making the unexpected postponement a blessing in disguise.

Folarin is optimistic that the break will allow the squad to regroup and address the underlying issues affecting their performance. “The postponed fixture against Shooting Stars will give us time to train and rest so we can get better in subsequent fixtures,” he noted, signaling the team’s intent to return to the pitch with renewed vigour and improved tactical readiness. The extended preparation time is now expected to be used to meticulously plan for the challenges ahead as Remo Stars look to climb out of the bottom half of the NPFL table.
