Former Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino has offered praise for two key Blues midfielders, Enzo Fernández and Moisés Caicedo, acknowledging that they are now “performing very well” under the club’s current manager, Enzo Maresca.

Dependable NG reports that Pochettino, who endured a turbulent single season at Stamford Bridge, made the comments ahead of Chelsea’s Premier League clash with Wolves on Saturday. During his tenure, the former Tottenham Hotspur and Paris Saint-Germain coach was responsible for overseeing the acquisition of players like Caicedo and Fernández for significant fees.

Speaking to talkSPORT about his departure from Chelsea, Pochettino explained the difficult circumstances of his time there. “We both decided to split. I think my first season was about to stop a little bit,” he said. He noted that the initial plan involved building the team with new players, many of whom lacked Premier League experience.

Pochettino specifically mentioned the pressure on the two high-profile signings. “And then players that need to adapt, like Caicedo or Enzo, who were very young with too much responsibility from the first season,” he observed. He concluded by giving credit to the players for their recent form, saying, “I think after they got experience, they started to show their quality. They are performing very well now.”
