Confirming the incident, Adam Abdullahi, the spokesperson of the Jos Railway Station, attributed the cause of the crash to the tricyclist’s refusal to comply with traffic instructions. “What happened was that at the level crossing, our official stopped him but he refused to stop. The train’s speed eventually caught the tricycle, causing the accident,” Abdullahi explained. He further stated that the crossing guard at the scene had clearly signaled the tricyclist to wait, but the rider allegedly insisted on crossing the tracks despite the oncoming train.
