Nollywood actress and filmmaker Regina Daniels has publicly pleaded with Nigerians to stop insulting her mother, Rita Daniels, amidst the ongoing marital crisis with her husband, Senator Ned Nwoko. The actress confessed that she ignored her mother’s warnings and married the senator because she was genuinely in love.

Dependable NG reports that in an emotional video posted on her Instagram page on Wednesday, Regina Daniels directly addressed the intense public scrutiny and criticisms directed at her mother since her controversial marriage to the billionaire politician in 2019. The actress strongly insisted that her decision was not driven by greed, confirming that her family, including her mother, had initially advised her against the union.

“The main essence of this video is to please, stop insulting my mom. She’s the best thing that ever happened to me. She is my god on earth,” the mother-of-two stated. “It’s me. I’m the one with the coconut head. I’m so ashamed to say I fell in love. But I actually really did. And it’s wild. But I did. Everyone said no. My mom.” She further disclosed that the emotional pressure surrounding her marriage choice once led her to contemplate suicide.

Refuting the persistent claims that her mother sold her off for financial gain, Regina Daniels argued, “And you all stop saying I got married out of greed. Excuse me. No. We were not broke. Does that make sense?” She emphasized that her mother was a provider who suffered to train her children through the actress’s career. Despite the current turmoil, which has included accusations of domestic abuse and counter-accusations of substance abuse, Regina Daniels concluded with a vow that she is committed to fighting for her children.
