Ronaldo Says Manchester United Manager Amorim ‘Cannot Work Miracles’

Al Nassr star forward Cristiano Ronaldo has voiced strong reservations about the situation at his former club, Manchester United, stating that the current manager, Ruben Amorim, “cannot work miracles” in the highly competitive Premier League.

Dependable NG reports that Ronaldo made the comments during an interview on the Piers Morgan Uncensored programme, despite Amorim recently guiding the club to three consecutive wins—the first time since his appointment in November 2024. That modest run of form was abruptly halted last weekend when the team was held to a 2-2 draw by Nottingham Forest.

Ronaldo’s skepticism stems from what has been a turbulent period for the Portuguese coach at Old Trafford. Last season, Manchester United recorded their worst-ever Premier League finish, ending the campaign in 14th place and trophyless after losing the Europa League final, consequently missing out on European competition this season.

While acknowledging Amorim’s efforts, Ronaldo suggested that the club’s issues run deeper than just the manager. “He’s [Amorim] doing his best,” said Ronaldo. “What are you gonna do? Miracles? Miracles are impossible. We say in Portugal, miracles are only in Fatima.” He continued by questioning the mentality of some of the players: “You’re not gonna do miracles. Even the players. Manchester United have good players, but then some of them don’t have the mind, what is Manchester United.” Ronaldo’s comments reinforce the widely held belief that the club’s struggles are institutional and require more than just managerial changes to fix.
