Troops Destroy Major Bandits’ Camp in Taraba Clearance Operation

Troops belonging to the 6 Brigade of the Nigerian Army, operating under Sector 3 of Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS), have achieved a significant operational success by destroying a major bandits’ camp in the Takum Local Government Council of Taraba State.

Dependable NG reports that this achievement is part of the military’s ongoing clearance offensive codenamed Operation Lafiya Nakowa, which aims to flush out bandits and terrorist elements across the state. The operation was confirmed in a release made available to journalists on Monday by the Acting Assistant spokesperson of the Brigade, Lieutenant Umar Muhammad.

The decisive mission was carried out on Friday, October 31, 2025, following credible intelligence reports regarding criminal hideouts located near Unom, Yongogba, Tornyi, and Mbayongo villages. Upon assessing the intelligence, troops launched an extensive clearance patrol through several communities, including Tor-Tser, Kofar Ahmadu, and Sabon Gida Tati.

According to Lieutenant Muhammad, during the advance, soldiers received fresh intelligence indicating that bandits had been sighted near TY Farm in Tati. The troops immediately advanced toward the area and engaged the criminals in a direct confrontation. The bandits, overwhelmed by the superior firepower of the Nigerian Army, fled deep into the surrounding forest. Subsequent exploitation of the area led to the discovery and complete destruction of the major bandits’ camp at TY Farm, effectively denying the criminals a safe haven. The troops also confirmed the recovery of a Dane gun and other items from the destroyed hideout.

The Commander of the 6 Brigade, Brigadier Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, commended his troops for their gallantry, professionalism, and swift response during the operation. He firmly reiterated the Brigade’s unrelenting commitment to ensuring lasting peace and security throughout Taraba State and urged residents to continue providing timely and credible information to support the military’s ongoing efforts.
