45-Year-Old Man Allegedly Ingests Poison, Commits Suicide In Kubwa

A somber atmosphere has descended upon the Kubwa area of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) following the alleged suicide of a 45-year-old man, identified as Ambrose Mkpati, who reportedly ingested a poisonous substance. The tragic incident, which has left the community stunned, highlights the growing concern over suicide cases in the FCT.

Dependable NG reports that the tragedy took place late on Sunday, October 12, in the Topland Community, Gbazango area of Kubwa. Details of the unfortunate event were shared by security analyst Zagazola Makama on X. It was gathered that the victim’s niece, Ms. Gania Karim, received an urgent call around 11:02 p.m. informing her that Mkpati, a citizen of the Benin Republic, had taken a suspected poisonous substance, believed to be the insecticide ‘Sniper,’ and was in critical condition.

Neighbours quickly assisted the niece in rushing the victim to the Kubwa General Hospital. However, all efforts were futile as the doctor on duty pronounced him dead on arrival. A bottle of the suspected substance was reportedly recovered at the scene of the tragedy. Makama further stated that the body of the deceased has been deposited at the hospital’s mortuary for preservation and a possible autopsy to be conducted. Authorities have since launched a full investigation to determine the exact circumstances that led to the death of Mr. Mkpati.
